fishin

Since I've been back from holiday, I've found it much easier to avoid going to work every waking moment. In fact, I find it is much easier to not go to work at all. So this is what I've been doing on Sunday afternoons.

Behold, the might wooly bugger. I call him green boy.

green boy

Just tied this one, but his brother was successful in finding his way into the mouths of several fish the last couple of weeks. His cousin black boy also found success in his mission.

You might be thinking, it is the middle of december, what am I doing standing in a desert lake, in this weather. In fact, I find it quite peaceful. The view from the lake:

mist

Fellow fishermen:

icefog

As serene as this looks, this day was biting cold. (16 degrees Fahrenheit, give or take a couple) In fact, after about 15 minutes, it became impossible to fish, in light of the complete loss of feeling in the hands. That, and the fact that the eyes on one's fly rod tended to ice shut. But after a couple of fish, it was onto the "local" bar at the lake, to sip a beer and watch the football game. Good times... good times.

I'd say this is somewhat deceptive, given there is no ice in view. But looks very cold anyway.

Seems like a lot of fisherman for it being super duper cold!
